We have an underlying philosophy of enjoyment within the department. We believe that music is best enjoyed and learnt from
a practical basis but also believe that pupils should have theoretical music integrated into this.
We value every girl and endeavour to make them feel safe, relaxed, at ease, and ready to learn. We stress the importance of participation, and believe this is as important as the musical outcome. We are proud of the ethos within the department.
We hope you will find this a useful and informative site about music education at Avonbourne School.

Facilities & resources
The music department currently has two fully equipped music rooms, four practice rooms and a computer cluster. Each music room has a piano, enough keyboards for one between two, a drumkit and a number of computers. There is a selection of classroom percussion available, including xylophones and glockenspiels and enough samba instruments for a 40 piece 'bateria'. We also have a number of acoustic, electric and bass guitars and orchestral instruments. Each of the practice rooms is equipped with a piano and one of the rooms also has a drumkit for instrumental lessons. The computer cluster is the newest part of the department having come on line in September, 2007. This houses 6 music workstations, using Cubase studio 4.
